Bill: Just wanted to let you know that I officially entered the DNR photo contest for the 2024 Calendar. I submitted the “sunset” photo that you helped me with, and applied your suggestions for category/title. I did not realize until I filled out the entry form that DNR also wanted the story behind the photo.
STORY:
This was my last time out for the season. It was a mid-week fishing trip, off Kent Island in late Fall. I was heading across the Bay toward South River. The Bay was calm with a peaceful sea, sky and sunset. I happened to notice a vintage-looking small sailboat directly to the west in open water. I thought it would make a beautiful photo if I could navigate to catch the sailboat in silhouette at precisely the correct moment relative to my position and the setting sun. Since my boat, the sailboat, and the sun were all moving, I knew that I would only have one chance. I waited until the right moment, left the helm, and took the picture.
